There’s a common theme amongst those who seek my services…

Almost every client says something along the lines of “I’m nervous, this is so outside my comfort zone!”

To that I say: “Perfect! It’s absolutely normal to be nervous, but I love that you’re trusting me with this step!”

I’m no stranger to the fact that this type of photography is more nerve-wracking than others. In fact, it’s actually why I chose to specialize in boudoir! I take great pride in being someone that people can trust with their most vulnerable side. Let’s deep dive on some of the different reasons why people are nervous about this!

  1. You’re about to be in varying states of undress in front of a stranger.

Absolutely 100% normal for this to make you nervous, and this is actually the main reason we include hair and makeup in our session fee! While your hair and makeup are being done, we’re all just sitting around talking about anything and everything. By the time you’re done in that chair, it starts to feel more like you’re hanging out with friends!

  2. Society’s dumb standards make you think your body is not worthy of being shown.

Re-read those first three words. Society’s standards are dumb. You can’t convince me otherwise. A bunch of now-dead old men created the beauty industry to make us all feel bad about ourselves so that we would use the products they sell and make them a ton of money. Do you really want to let the opinions of people who want you to feel bad tell you how to feel about yourself? No, damn it! Love yourself and believe that you are worthy of doing things that make you feel good!

  3. You’re worried about where your photos will end up.

We have a very strict policy of only sharing photos that we have signed consent for sharing. Even when people say they’re okay with us sharing anonymous photos, we tend not to based on the possibility of someone being able to identify you. We have even told people who originally were okay with sharing the photos that we won’t based on their career. If your job is one that would be affected by this (which it shouldn’t, but that’s a different story for a different day), I’m not taking the risk.

Additionally, you should definitely take great care in choosing your boudoir photographer! We couldn’t be happier that people trust us with the responsibility of guiding them outside their comfort zone! Take the leap!
